PARENTING ADVICE

Lara, we saw you on stage at Fish-Fest with Big Wave Dave, and you let out the fact that you're expecting. You also asked for any tips people could pass on. One of the things that my wife, Laurel, and I did early-on and have enjoyed, was to keep a journal for each child.We wrote about name-choice discussions, dr.'s appointments, ulltrasounds, nursery purchases and preparations, etc., etc., and how excited we were to have him or her coming. We have kept the journals for each of our children, and wrote a lot early in their childhoods and first years, but it decreases as they get older and we can't seem to make time to write anymore, except on their birthdays. (Ours are 9 and 7 now) The kids both enjoy us reading from "their" journals, and hearing about what was happening before their births and when they were born. I remember one of the entries in my son's journal spoke of him snoring in his car seat in church with us one time, and the lady in front of us turning around and smiling, saying it was a sweet sound to hear. Anyway, it's a good place to write how thankful you are to God for the Blessing He is providing, and so many aspects of parenthood and all the "firsts'" of childhood.We also take hundreds of pictures and shoot video, I urge you to also. Enjoy every minute!

My heart broke whenI read this...please keep Jeremy and his family in your prayers.

The Christian Post is reporting today that Jeremy Camp and his wife Adrienne have some sad news to share with their fans.

Adrienne was three months pregnant and at a regular doctor’s appointment last Thursday the doctors couldn’t find the baby’s heart beat. The doctors sent her for an ultra sound where they learned the sad news that the baby’s heart had stopped a week earlier.

In a blog entry on Friday Adrienne went on to talk about this sad news:

Hi Everyone.

We have sad news to share with you.

As some of you may know from my twitter it was our baby check up yesterday.I went in and they could not find the baby’s heart beat. This is could be normal at my stage, but they sent me to have an ultrasound, from which we learned that our precious little one’s heart had stopped a week earlier and has gone to be with Jesus.

It was a hard day for us yesterday, but Praise the Lord Jeremy was home and he has been such a rock for me. God has overwhelmed us with His love and peace. We know He is faithful and don’t doubt for a minute that He is in control.We are so thankful for the hope we have in Christ. We had an amazing time reading scripture together this morning and just sharing what God has done and all that He is doing in our lives.

We know we are very blessed to have our two sweet little girls.

Please pray that our eyes will continue to stay on Him. Also for my body to heal quickly.

By Natalie Hess Story Published: Aug 8, 2009 at 7:06 AM EDT Story Updated: Aug 8, 2009 at 7:07 AM EDT FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - Two passengers in a car that turned into the path of a tour bus on Lima Road this morning have died, while the driver remains in critical condition.

Police say a tour bus was traveling north through a green light at the intersection of Lima and Coliseum Boulevard around 1:15 a.m. this morning when a black car turned abruptly into its path. The car, a black Chevy Corsica, was heading south on Lima but turned suddenly eastbound onto Coliseum, says Public Information Officer Liza Thomas. The car drove directly into the path of the bus.

According to police, a female passenger and a male passenger in that car were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. No one on the bus was injured.

The identities of the victims are still unknown. The Fort Wayne and Allen County FACT team, Allen County Prosecutor and Allen County Coroner’s office are assisting the Fort Wayne Police department with the investigation.

PARENTING TIPS

Please send your baby advice/parenting tips to me at lara@thefish959.com. We're expecting baby #1, a boy, this fall. :-) Here's some great advice from Chuy, a dad of 3:

Best Tip I received was to register for A LOT of diapers...I MEAN A LOT!!!They go through them like nothing...Infants need changing like 10 -15 times a day for the first few months.

Just enjoy him for every moment and if there are some difficult or overwhelming nights have a friend to call to be able to vent to.

OH yeah...Go to the beach & dig out a hole in the sand, place a towel over the hole, cover it with an umbrella, and you can SLEEP ON YOUR STOMACH! The hole will be big enough to allow the belly to be supported but not squished, and most of all you get some restful sleep.

Chuy, you rock!!! Thank you so much for this.
