My 15 year old daughter went to Panama for two weeks this past summer and had to raise just under $3000. We hosted a free dinner where people could make a donation to the event (had some food items donated so we didn’t have a lot of upfront costs), had an event at El Torito where anyone who took in her flyer was counted and 25% of the food total was donated, sold gold jewelry, and she asked people to hire her. She babysat, did housecleaning, and stuffed envelopes for a business. It is a lot of work to raise the funds, but the smile on my daughter’s face when she realized she had raised all her funds was so enjoyable to see. She has since given her testimony to quite a few youth groups.
