Move America Forward

We're honoring and supporting our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan! You can send a care package to a brave man or woman overseas as a way of showing them that you care. The items--gatorade, sunblock, lip balm, etc.--are exactly what the troops have asked for. PLUS, you can add a personal note! Just call 1-800-710-1131, or go to http://www.moveamericaforward.org/.

Thank You

Laura (who's 11) called in from La Habra to say hi to her cousins and grandmother. She said that her grandma is very nice, and makes the best garlic bread. Laura admitted that she doesn't actually bake it--just heats it up--but that it's awesome. We played "Thank You" from 33 Miles for her, and I"ve posted some of the lyrics below. Who are YOU grateful for? I"d love to hear about them! You can email me at lara@thefish959.com.

What if in morning when I wake up
Even before I fill my coffee cup
I said thank You
Thank You
What if I look at the day and the hours ahead
And before I move forward
I bowed my head
And said thank You
Oh I said thank You
What if I looked at my life in a different way
Took a little more time to stop and pray
I know it would change all the moments in between
So here I go
Thank You for everything
Thank You for loving me
It don?t even matter what tomorrow brings
Well I will sing my
Thank You for sun and rain
For what You give and take away
For all Your goodness I will always say
Thank You
Oh I'll say thank You

WOW! Interesting day, huh? :-) I am praying that you are safe, and that you came through this quake just fine. Today was a good reminder to have a plan with our family of what we're going to do in an emergency, and to make sure that our supplies (food, water, etc.) are up to date.

Q: Almost 25% of married couples say they can't remember THIS. What?
A: The song they danced to for the 1st dance at their wedding! Congrats to Krissy in Long Beach, who had to lean over and ask her hubby what their song was. :-) She won a 4-pack of tix to Adventure City!

Q: Almost 40% of us say we wish we were ________. What?

Watch Over Me

Diane's son Micah just turned 26, and he just left for Iraq. Please keep him and his family in your prayers!!!! We thank Micah for his service, and his willingness to put himself in harm's way in order to help keep us safe. I played "Watch Over Me" by Aaron Shust for Diane and Micah, and here are the lyrics:

I was lonely
You came waltzing over to me
And Your eyes they saw right through me
And You heard each one of my cries for helpAnd You came to rescue me
I was broken
Every prayer that I had spoken
Reached Your ears and all my tears weren’t cried in vain
You carried all my pain
And put me back together again
You watch over me in the darkest valleys
You watch over me when the night seems long
You help me to see the way before me
You watch over me
You watch over me
Always faithful
To be leading, at this moment
Interceding for Your children
Though I’ve wandered astray from Your infinite ways
You’ve never left me alone -[to chorus]
Take this frozen heart; awaken me
Never once have You forsaken me
Even though I walk through this shadow of death
You will guide and defend me
You’ll guard and protect me
Even though I walk through this shadow of death
You will lead me home

Q: According to a recent poll, what's our favorite fashion trend from the 1980s?
A: We had lots of guesses of legwarmers, banana clips, skinny ties, and leggings, but the answer was...the SWATCH WATCH!!! I had one with a wristband that smelled like strawberries. Drew had a clear one that showed all the machinery, which is why he knew the answer right away. He won tix to tomorrow's Faith and Family Day with Bethany Dillon at the East West Bank Tennis Classic at the Home Depot Center in Carson. For more info on the event, check out www.kfsh.com.

Please Pray for Greg Laurie's Family

Please pray for the Laurie family! Greg Laurie's son Christopher was killed in a car accident yesterday. My heart goes out to them, and I pray that the Lord will give them peace. Allyson's brother is a Calvary Chapel pastor, and she passed this note from him along to us:

Please pray for Christopher’s wife- pregnant with her second child, their young daughter Stella and Chris’ parents, Greg and Cathe Laurie, and his only sibling Jonathan.

The family is at home with Pastor Chuck, Raul Ries, Don McClure and other close friends and pastors.

Pray that the Lord will comfort them and guide them through these next few weeks as the Orange County Harvest Crusade is in 2 weeks at Angel Stadium.

May the Lord be gracious and may He have mercy on all…

A: If you're smiling! :-)

Rob Biagi and Jana Alyra

I just got this email from a friend...please keep Rob and his family in your prayers!
Rob Biagi is an Orange County resident and Christian Family Singer/Entertainer. He has a wife, 2 daughters and a son.
This past school year, Natalie, Rob's (now) 3-year-old daughter was diagnosed with Leukemia. She's been undergoing very invasive treatments to heal this disease.
You'll see in the pics on the website below. So, she's been battling this disease for almost a year now and is barely growing back hair in her recent july photo on the blogs.

The orginal concert was set solely for Natalie. However, shockingly, on July 1st, 2008, Rob Biagi was diagnosed with a completely different type Leukemia as well.
You may learn all about Natalie, Rob and the Biagi family by reading the heartfelt blogs written for the past year by Rob and his wife Cathleen at http://www.nataliebiagi.com/.

The upcoming concert is completely non-profit donations for the Biagi family.

This family survives off of Rob's Christian Family entertainment/concert ministry. He provides for them via concerts and traveling and sharing the word of God through his music. They have no insurance and obviously very MOUNTING hospital/medical bills.
So, now the concert is EVEN more crucial.

It will be on August 23rd at the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, CA. TICKET DONATION PRICES:• Child (2-12) - $10• Adult (before 8/22) - $15• Gen. Adm. (at door) - $25• VIP (reserved seating)-$35
The tix can be pre-purchased NOW by calling the Crystal Cathedral Tix Sales office.

The concert will be performed by JANA ALYRA (another O.C. based Christian Family singer). She is a good friend to Rob and his family and will be performing for them. As it stands right now, Rob Biagi (health permitting) will also perform a few songs. IF you haven't seen/heard either of these singers perform, you're in for such a wonderful family friendly concert!
The Crystal Cathedral will NOT be taking ANY of the proceeds. The church has also donated it's use for no fee.
All $$ will go directly to the Biagi family.

The church holds 2,000 people. LET's FILL IT with love!

Amazing Love Story

We love hearing your stories! Who is on your mind today? Who do you love? Let me know at lara@thefish959.com. This email from Marti brought tears to my eyes!
Lara:

Over 31 years ago after being married for 11 years, my husband came home from work and said to me, “You are no longer my first love”. At first I was shocked, angry, and hurt, but then he stated that he had accepted the Lord, Jesus Christ as his savior. Being unsaved I did not understand at the time, but that was the beginning of a new life for us all. Praise God!!!!

So I would like to take this opportunity to thank my husband, who I call Jun, for all that his has provided our family all these 15,353 days that the Lord has blessed us with. We have shared many wonderful hours together and have had our share of ups and downs. But thanks to the Lord, who called us, over 31 years ago, to join the family of God, we are able to overcome and continue.

Jun – I love you more than on the day we were joined together and each time I gaze upon you - I love you even more.

May all the days that you are blessed with here on earth be filled with the true knowledge of how much the Lord loves you.

With all my heart, love!!!

Your wife, Marti

Love

It is so amazing and wonderful when you find someone who truly sees you, accepts you, and loves you just as you are. That's what Alena found with Phil, who she met a few years ago. She was a single mom with 8 special needs children, and Phil fell in love with her and her kids. She never thought she would get married, but then she met Phil and everything changed. :-) She called in to wish him a happy 55th birthday! Who is special in your life? Who's on your mind today? Call My Name

Priscilla works in the fitness center at Biola, and they always crank up the Fish every day. Thank you!!! She requested "Call My Name" from Third Day, and told me she loves the song because it is true--when you call out to God He will be there for you. Check out the lyrics: It's been so long...since You felt like you were loved...So what went wrong...But do you know... There's a place where you belong...Here in My arms...When you feel like you're alone in your sadness...It seems like no one else in this whole world cares...And you want to get away from the madness...You just call My name and I'll be there.

Live for You

We are so honored that you come to The Fish to be enouraged...to be inspired...to find hope. We love you and are so thankful for you! And we are grateful that you trust us and our whole Fish community enough to share your heart. Sharing stories is what we do on my show, and I always feel like it brings us all closer together. And you know what? When you talk about what you're going through, chances are there is someone listening who is going through that exact same thing and feeling totally alone. Yet, when they hear your voice or hear a certain song, they realize that we are truly all in this together, and that God has a specific plan for their life. I spoke with a gentleman today who's been going through a tough time recently. He's saved, he loves God, but he shared that he still struggles with making good decisions. Will you please keep him in your prayers? I played "Live for You" from Connersvine for him, which is all about our longing for God and His ability to cleanse us. Here's the chorus:
I wanna live for You...I wanna die to me...I want to be emptied...I want to be freed...from all that holds me captive...all that brings me down...all that’s tried to lose me...now that I’ve been found...I wanna live for You. http://www.connersvine.com/

Wedding

Our friends Ian and Laura got married Saturday, and it was so beautiful!!! They've been dating for 6 years, and they are just perfect for each other. I think I must have cried about 10 times during the ceremony, and I kept on bawling at the reception. Seriously, I cry so much that I got eyelash extensions--I can never keep mascara on!!! Anyway, the sweetest part was during the speech that Laura's dad gave. He was looking at his wife, and he said, "A lot of people have asked me the secret to having a beautiful and talented daughter. I tell them that the secret is to marry a beautiful and talented woman." Isn't that awesome? :-) I hope YOU had a fantastic weekend!

Malinda here, guest blogging for the Fish at Work! Part of my job here at The Fish is coordinating World Vision sponsorships. Check out this precious little girl, 11-year old Angelica from Ecuador:

Today was Angelica's last day to be sponsored, and we got a call from Mariah and her mom in Yorba Linda! Mariah's also 11 years old, and will help Angelica with money she earns doing chores. Now Angelica will have things she needs, like food, school supplies, clean water, or health care. Pretty awesome! And the best part is that Mariah and Angelica will get to know each other by sending letters and pictures back and forth. How great to have a friend across the world!
