DO YOU LISTEN AT WORK?

Jenny at East Lake Cleaners in Yorba Linda does!!!  Thank you so much for making us a part of your day.  :-)  Let me know where YOU listen and when you listen, and I'll give you a shout on the air!  lara@thefish959.com.

I realized the other day that my son Dallas is the first person I"ve loved simply because he exists.  It has nothing to do with how he acts toward me, what he can do for me, etc.  I love him simply because he is my son.  And in that moment I caught a glimpse of how God must feel about us.  I pray that songs like How He Loves by DCB, Safe by Phil Wickham, and Forgiven by Sanctus Real remind you that you have a Heavenly Father who loves you more than you can imagine...that you remember who you are and Whose you are.

Have a wonderful weekend!  :-)

MOM ADVICE!!!

Thank you so much for all of the great advice on what to do about Dallas's nails!  He is 14 weeks old and has the tiniest nails ever.  I start to sweat just thinking about those sharp clippers going near him!  I just got this from Barbara:

I just heard you asking about how to cut Dallas nails, well it may sound kind of weird or gross but when my kids were babies I would just bite their nails off. I was always so scared that I would cut them, plus their nails were so soft they would just peel right off.
This is what Jenny does:
I have a 7 month old girl named Clara. I use a nail file. The double sided one. But I use the softer side and use it very carefully because it can also rub the skin away.
And here's Colleen's tip:

Cutting baby's nails are easier when they are asleep. perhaps after a bath and feeding this way the baby doesn't move and then you pinch their little fingers..

Please keep those parenting tips coming!  lara@thefish959.com.

A recent survey has found that 90% of women say they are not just stressed, but "super-stressed" at work every day.  If that's you, try spending part of your workday with us and let this positive music keep you focused on all the great things in life.  And you can always listen to us online (http://www.fish959.com/ and click Listen Live) or on your Iphone (download the free Fish app at our site).

Is there anyone I can say hi to on the air for you?  Pete in Big Bear emailed to say that he and his lovely bride are celebrating their 30th anniversary this weekend!  CONGRATS!!!!

FAITH AND FAMILY NIGHT WITH THE KINGS AND JADON LAVIK!!!

Yay!  Bring the kids and come hang with us at our Faith and Family Night on March 27th!  Jadon will perform before the Kings play, and there are great ticket prices.  And it's a Saturday night, so you can stay out a little bit later.  :-)

Have you heard "Save A Place For Me" by Matthew West?  He wrote it in honor of his grandmother after he found out she was dying.  It is a beautiful tribute to a woman who loved God and loved her family.  And now, Matthew has created a place on his website (http://matthewwest.com/)  that is a memorial wall.  You can post a picture of a loved one who has gone to Heaven, and share something special about them.  I am crying as I type this right now...I can't wait until we have a glorious reunion one day with everyone we have ever lost.  No more sadness, or tears, or death.

It's always fun to hear the story behind how a band picked out their name, isn't it?  For Tenth Avenue North...well, you guessed it!  It was the street sign outside their window.  :-)

WHO KNEW...

...that one of the scariest things in the world would be trimming this little guy's nails?!  My hands shake so badly every time I attempt to do it that my hubby has to take over.  The sharp clippers...the tiny nails...I am starting to sweat right now just thinking about it.

Please pray for my friend's son!  He woke up a few days ago and couldn't see.  He is at the hospital right now, but the doctors aren't sure what's going on--at first they thought it was maybe a tumor, and now they are thinking it's some kind of virus.  Please pray for his healing, and for peace and comfort for the family.  My heart breaks for every parent that has had to see their baby in the hospital...you are so strong and so brave.

The Amy Grant show is Monday at Calvary Church Santa Ana!  Our Facebook friend Kathy is making it a mother/daughter girls' night.  :-)  We have ticket info at www.fish959.com in the Station Events section.

Let me know who you are and where you listen, and if you'd like me to say hi to someone for you on the air!  lara@thefish959.com

IT'S FRIDAY!!!

What are your weekend plans?  I think my hubby and son will be taking lots of naps.  In fact, if napping were an Olympic sport, they would both have gold medals.  :-)  And than you so much for all of your prayers!  Dallas is feeling much better!  He was diagnosed with acid reflux, and we just started him on medication.  I"m going to try to get to the gym--time to get back in shape and be strong and healthy.  I think I need to lift weights--Dallas feels like he is a LOT heavier than 12 pounds!!!

I got the most wonderful email from David, who wanted to pass this beautiful message along to his wife, Teri:  My love for you can exceed incredible levels because he first loved us.  Who can I say hi to on the air for you?  Let me know at lara@thefish959.com.

We are playing some amazing new music!!!  "Let The Waters Rise" by Mikeschair, "There Is A Way" by NewWorldSon, and "Healing Hand Of God" by Jeremy Camp.  Let us know what YOU think of what we're playing by joining our Listener Advisory Board.  Sign up at http://www.fish959.com/

SEE SARAH KELLY IN SANTA MONICA TONIGHT!!!

Nathan and his beautiful wife and daughter were at my baby shower in October, and I just got this exciting email from him:

Hope all is great! My name is Nathan Kollar. We met at a Baby Shower Fund Raiser with Sarah Kelly last year. My wife and I were there with Sarah and shared one of our songs. Sarah also mentioned that we were moving to Santa Monica from Pennsylvania to plant a new church called Clarity.

Well, we are here and have a kick off event in Santa Monica, just off 3rd St and Promenade, this Thursday (the 18th) at 7 PM at a theater called Magicopolis (1418 Fourth Street, Santa Monica, CA 90401)! Sarah Kelly will be sharing and performing. Come and hang with us! Lots of fun, a crazy banana man, great music, exciting launch, and the beginning of a movement. Many pastors, community leaders, and newcomers will be there.
Nathan, thank you so much for letting us know!  We hope you guys have an amazing time tonight, and God bless you for making this move and blessing Santa Monica.

ONE MORE REASON BWD IS AMAZING!!!

Big Wave Dave just got back from The Philippines, and I"ve never heard him so excited about anything! He said that the work World Vision is doing (thanks to your support) is absolutely transforming lives and communities. He met kids and families and saw all of this firsthand, and he's taking over my show today and tomorrow to share his experience with you. And he's doing his regular show, too, so maybe shoot him an email or give him a quick call to encourage him (or at least make sure he's still awake, lol). And maybe consider sponsoring a child in The Philippines through World Vision--it might even be a child that BWD met! God bless you and thank you. :-)

WHAT ARE YOUR MEMORIES?

I posted a pic a few days ago of my hubby kissing Dallas, and got this email and wonderful pic from Jodi:

Oh you brought back memories...I had to check out my baby pictures of Calvin. The kissy picture reminded me of the Daddy/Dallas one you have ;)

I would love to hear your memories (or what you're currently experiencing!) of your little ones. Email me at lara@thefish959.com.

And speaking of my little guy....he's thirteen weeks today, and a few people have mentioned that it seems he might be starting to TEETHE!!! He's drooling like crazy and gnawing on his hand. I"m like, can't we at least master sleeping through the night before moving on to the next challenge?! It just makes me realize he is growing up fast already.

TobyMac's webcast is tonight! He'll be on Facebook talking about the new CD and playing some of the tracks, including "Tonight."

It's sunny and warm and beautiful--perfect Ice Skating weather! :-) It's free through the end of the month at the Orange County Great Park! Get info in our Station Events section at www.fish959.com.

HAPPY PRESIDENTS' DAY!

Are you working? Are you enjoying a day off and hanging with the family? Hitting five malls and enjoying the sales? Thank you for spending some time with us. :-)

Hope you had a wonderful Valentine's Day! My hubby and I did indeed get out over the weekend for our first date since Dallas was born, but all we talked about was the baby. And I kept looking at pics of him on my phone because I missed him! He was in good hands with his grandparents, though. We are so fortunate they are able to come out and spend so much time with all of us.

Thank you for all of your prayers for Big Wave Dave! He spent last week in the Philippines with World Vision to see firsthand the amazing work that is being done, and to personally meet the kids and families that we are trying to get sponsored this week. If you'd like to be a part of this, please call World Vision for more info at 866-819-Hope.

YOUR TANGLED LIFE

Mike from Tenth Avenue North sent out a Tweet with this amazing quote: "God's purposes for you will unfold. Your tangled life will shine at last." Amen! Here's to your tangled life shining brightly this weekend. :-)

Are you following The Fish on Twitter? www.twitter.com/kfsh

Happy Valentine's Day! With the big day coming up on Sunday...what's YOUR Love Language? Quality time? Words of affirmation? Take the quiz on the Morning Show's Blog and find out.

I'd love to hear your stories and see pics of your kids! Email me anytime: lara@thefish959.com. Has this ever happened to you? Dallas is only twelve weeks old, but I started crying while I was dancing him around the house--I was picturing dancing with him at his wedding, with him all grown up and leaving me. My husband was like, calm down--we have a few years before that happens!

2.11.2010

TOBYMAC ON FACEBOOK!!!

TobyMac is doing a live webcast on the 16th on Facebook! He'll be talking about the new CD Tonight, which just came out on Tuesday, and playing some of the songs. I hope he does "City On Our Knees!"

Isn't that the WORST when you hear a song, fall in love with it, and then miss the name of it? Well, now you can get artist and title of the last 15 songs that we've played at http://www.fish959.com/. You can also email me with some of the lyrics or what time you heard it, and I"ll try to track it down for you! lara@thefish959.com.

Rebecca St. James is in concert tomorrow night! She's part of a special women's Valentine's event at Compass Bible Church in Aliso Viejo. Check out our Station Events section at www.fish959.com for info, and then grab your girls and have a great time tomorrow!

A FISH ARTIST....IN SPACE?!

Nashville singer/songwriter and Male Vocalist of the Year Brandon Heath added a rare highlight to his growing list of accolades with his recent Emmy Award win, presented to the celebrated songwriter for his blockbuster hit “Give Me Your Eyes.” The song served as the catalyst for Nashville Rescue Mission’s Hunger to Hope 2009 PSA Campaign.

Rounding out Heath’s week of unique compliments is the selection of the award-winning song by NASA as the 5:14pm CT wake-up call for the Endeavour shuttle crew, on their first day in orbit, in honor of first-time flyer Pilot Terry Virts, who is a fan of Heath’s music. Virts invited Heath to join his family as a special guest at the launch yesterday from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

What are you Valentine's Day plans? Let me know at lara@thefish959.com. And if you'd like me to say something sweet about your sweetie on my show, send that along, too. :-) My hubby and I are going out to dinner on Saturday while Dallas's grandparents watch him, and it's going to be our first date night since he was born in November. Since I work from home now, it's going to be crazy to be out of the house with adults and in something that's not covered in spit up, lol.

I bawl every time I play the new Matthew West song, "Save A Place For Me." He wrote in in honor of his grandmother, who loved God with all her heart and believed in the power of prayer. These are some beautiful, powerful lyrics:

Don't be mad if I cry
It just hurts so bad sometimes
'Cause everyday it's sinking in
And I have to say goodbye all over again
You know I bet it feels good to have the weight of this world off your shoulders now
I'm dreaming of the day when I'm finally there with you

Save a place for me
Save a place for me
I'll be there soon
I'll be there soon
Save a place for me
Save some grace for me
I'll be there soon
I'll be there soon

I have asked the question why
But I guess the answer's for another time
So instead I'll pray with every tear
And be thankful for the time I had you here
And I wanna live my life just like you did
Make the most of my time just like you did
And I wanna make my home up in the sky
Just like you did
Oh, but until I get there
Until I get there

MIRACLE!!!

Dallas slept six hours in a row last night! I feel like an actual human today, although I kept waking up thinking that something was wrong. :-) He is also kind of obsessed with his hair, and keeps putting his little hand to the back of his head to feel it.

The wait is over! Tobymac's new CD, Tonight, is out today! "City On Our Knees" is on this one.

One husband emailed that he is writing a poem for his wife for Valentine's Day. What a wonderful idea! You don't have to dinner out and a huge thing to have romance--it truly is the thought and the effort that count. What are YOU doing for Feb. 14th? Let me know at lara@thefish959.com.

Are you following us on Twitter? www.twitter.com/kfsh Sanctus Real (they sing "Forgiven") used Twitter to choose the name of their new CD! Their followers voted, and the name they ended up with is Pieces Of A Real Heart...it's out in March.

VALENTINE'S DAY!!!

Bruce in Sylmar is celebrating his 20th anniversary on Sunday! He and his wife met, got engaged, and got married on Feb. 14th. Swoon!!! That is so romantic. :-) Deirdre in Monterey Park is making her hubby's favorite meal this weekend--lasagna and cheesecake. Yum! Who would YOU like to wish a Happy V-day? Let me know at lara@thefish959.com.

My son Dallas is discovering new things every day. It is so cute to see what fascinates him! In addition to his hands and feet, now he seems kind of obsessed with his hair. He'll be lying on his back on his little mat, just feeling the back of his head and making an "O" shape with his mouth.

Let me know what song moves you! Barbara in the South Bay loves "How He Loves Us" by DCB. She says that song and "What Faith Can Do" by Kutless make her feel so strong!

2.05.2010

IT'S FRIDAY!!!

We made it!!!

You asked for it, and we got it for you--a Fish Iphone App! A Blackberry one is coming soon, btw. Here's the link to download it for free: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/fish-95-9-kfsh/id349625250?mt=8

Ahhhh....the new skills I am mastering as a new mom. Dallas went to spit up, and I didn't have a burp cloth handy, so I just caught it IN MY HAND! I didn't even flinch, lol.

Love Jars of Clay? They're releasing a series of live audio/video digital EPs! The first one features songs from their latest CD, The Long Fall Back To Earth.

Carrie Underwood has landed a movie role! She is so beautiful...she should def be on the big screen! She'll be playing a youth group leader in a movie based on the life of Bethany Hamilton, the young surfer who lost her arm in a shark attack.

What song has touched YOU? Let me know at lara@thefish959.com. "Beautiful Ending" by BarlowGirl offered hope to a dad who has been out of work for a year--he said that it has encouraged his whole family to hang in there. These are such beautiful lyrics:

Oh tragedy has taken so many
Love lost cause they all forgot who You were

PRE-CHORUS 1
And it scares me to think that I could chose my life over You
My selfish heart
Divides me from you
It tears us apart

CHORUS 1
Tell me
What is our ending
Will it be beautiful, so beautiful

Oh how do I let myself let go
Of hands that painted the stars and holds tears that fall

PRE-CHORUS 2
And the pride of my heart makes me forget
It's not me but you
Who makes the heart beat
I'm lost without you
And your dying for me

CHORUS 2
Tell me
What is our ending
Will it be beautiful, so beautiful
Will my life
Find me by your side
Your love is beautiful, so beautiful

BRIDGE
At the end of it all
I want to be in your arms (4x)

HAPPY THURSDAY!!!

What are your plans for Superbowl Sunday? Our Dallas Cowboys got knocked out early, but Dallas will still be wearing his team onesie while we watch the game. We're going to hang with some friends who have a baby about the same age, so the kids can scream their heads off while we eat chips and guacamole and no one will be upset, lol.

Did you hear that we'll be doing some special Facebook contests soon?! If you like The Fish, Facebook, and winning free stuff...check out the "Connect With The Fish" section at http://www.fish959.com/.

VALENTINE'S DAY IS COMING!!!

We've got a week and a half to go...are you ready? Next week--and anytime, really!--I would love to pass along a "hello" or "I love you" to whoever is on your heart. Email me at lara@thefish959.com, let me know their name and your message, and I"ll do my best to get it on the air for you. Happy Valentine's!!!

I always think it's cool to hear who our artists like to listen to, and it turns out Carrie Underwood is a big fan of Brandon Heath! She loves his voice, and has him on her ipod. :-)

One of the first Christian concerts I went to after coming back to the Lord was Rebecca St. James, and it was awesome! I went by myself (I didn't know any Christians at the time) and cried through the whole thing. She absolutely rocks, and she's going to be at Compass Bible Church next Friday for a special women's Valentine's event. Check out our Station Events sections for more info at http://www.fish959.com/.

AMAZING!!!

THANK YOU!!!!! You helped us raise over $63,000 to help the earthquake survivors in Haiti. God bless you for your kindness and generosity--you have saved more lives than you know through your gift. And there is still time to donate to Compassion--just go to www.fish959.com.

As you can see from the pic, Dallas let me put his shades on...for about 15 seconds. :-) Please keep your mom advice coming to lara@thefish959.com. Here's an email I just got from Barbara...thank you so much for writing and sharing your heart!!!

So you said you need advice, well the best advice I can give you is just to relax and enjoy every minute you can. Just think of it this way he will never remember any of the mistakes you may have made or will make. Our babies don’t judge us like we do to ourselves they just love us and are so happy to see us show up with a bottle or clean diaper.

My boys are all grown up now 29, 28 & 23 and I long for those days when they needed me. It brings tears to my eyes thinking about how much I miss them today.

Take care and hang in there Jesus will get you through.

This is our final week for the Fishstick Design Contest! YOUR awesome creation could be gracing cars on freeways all over SoCal...just go to the Station Events section at www.fish959.com for details and rules.

How has YOUR life been changed by the music that we play? What song has touched you? "Forgiven" by Sanctus Real is inspiring stories of forgiveness...do you have one? Email me!

HELP HAITI WITH COMPASSION!!!

You have felt your heart break as you've watched the pictures of Haiti on the news, cried as you heard stories of children frantically looking for their parents, and rejoiced as survivors have been pulled from the rubble. Haiti is now being called the largest refugee camp in the world, and help is going to be needed for a long, long time. Compassion International is a Christian organization we have been working with for years, that has been working in Haiti for years, and that is able to get supplies to the people within a few days. If you give today, that will mean supplies (food, tents, etc.) in the hands of survivors in Haiti by the end of the week--praise God! Please go to http://www.fish959.com/ to make a donation. Thank you so much!
